Welcome to Art Piece Friday…….
This week is all about the Roc-a-Fella symbol and its continuous legacy, how this one logo was created in 1995 and has not just been around since then but dominated the competition when it comes to world-wide logo’s. The people who don’t know this logo was created before Jay-Z’s classic album “Reasonable Doubt” in 1997 and the world been rocking with logo ever since then. The company original C.E.O’s we all know is Jay-Z, Kareem Biggs, and Dame Dash took this logo around the world and represented in a “do it yourself” mentality which before them I can’t name one, comes to show you how big an art piece this actually is.
The person who actually drew up the logo was a man by the name of Dwayne Walker who sued the label executives for the royalties of his former work which he later lost in court. This logo has given more platforms to artist and creators that we could even imagine… Kanye West, J cole, Memphis Bleek, Beanie Sigel, to name a few even fashion with “Rocawear” and not to mention Tidal has given another level to all creators. The actual logo is a “R” with a Champagne bottle that I would guess is the representation of success and they defiantly haven’t fell short of it. Talk about the gift that keeps on giving we can all agree it’s been Roc-a-fella and the logo that birthed career’s over 2 decades now, one word…… WOW!
See you next Friday, no Ice Cube
