BFTP Exclusive: Singer/Song-writer Sir Maximus De’ Leon

I had the opportunity to hear some new music from a rising young singer from Cleveland, OH and I must say….RnB is far from dead. When you have newbies coming in bring back that old feeling, then you know…There will be a new wave.

Ok, seriously, this young man is so talented. To my ears he’s like a cross between Avant and Tank, mixed with some soul of Maxwell.

He credits his passion for music to his grandfather, Dr. Earl Preston Jr. who was a pastor and gospel composer who introduced De’ Leon to various gospel and soul artists such as Aretha Franklin and Al Green. From there he began writing at only the age of 11. But to find his own voice and develop his talents to his taste he enrolled in a recording class at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio, after middle school. Here he gained experience recording and producing to help him craft his own vision and find his own writing style. By high school age De’ Leon was he recording and producing mixed tapes.

After high school he attended Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona, Florida where he earned his degree in music technology. With these credentials and talent in hand De’ Leon relocated to Los Angeles, where he currently resides and continues to do what he loves, produce and write music.

Check out his single “Maybe”.
